My Baby is Awesome

He was crazy fussy last night.  I was hoping he'd go to sleep for an hour or so and then we would do a big feed for the night.

He fought sleep for over an hour.  I finally got him to sleep after a little more boob at 9:15.

I pumped not very successfully- I only yielded an ounce. And went to sleep at 11.

Bingo woke up at 4:20.  He slept for 7 hours straight!!!!

I feed him for 20 minutes, changed him, put him in pjs (he was in a onesie) and let him play (ie talk to and stare at his toys especially his monkey mobile).  I went back to sleep and listened to him on the monitor.

And my darling child fell back asleep and mommy got two more hours :)

Here he is when we visited a friend w a bumbo chair. I think he would like it if he fit in it.  He can hold his head up but he can't sit unassisted yet.

Bingo about to smile big for his mobile.

Baby Sleeps as Mommy Sits

The elevator is out in the building - AGAIN!  But Kayed has wanted to rest anyway.  I think the shock of a sonogram yesterday wore him out.

Bingo slept for a good 5 1/2 hour stretch and has had two naps over 2 1/2 hours each.  I did get a nice bath in for him and no crying or fussing.  He did pee straight up though.

The first nap

Right after the bath and the next nap

Second nap (still going at the time of this post - already 2 1/2 hours so far)

Children's Hospital visit

Becaus Bingo was breech for so long he had to get a sonogram on his hips.

After an hour to make the appointment we finally had one at 3 pm Monday the 22nd.  I swear all this new public health management just makes things move slower.

Getting to the hospital only takes 8 minutes by car and that was in moderate traffic (nice to know).

He fell asleep on the way there and slept until the exam started.  That means I took him out of a five point harness and undressed him and he didn't wake up.  Go Mommy!!!

He howled for the first hip.  The radiologist was just holding his leg in a weird way and the gel is very cold.  I held his hand and talked him through it as best I could.  He howled enough we scored a free purple pacifier.

I will get the results back soon.  Most likely everything is fine this is just so we can be super sure.

Kayed asleep waiting for the exam to start

Waiting to make sure they got all the shots.  Note he doesn't always need the paci.

Blurry shots of the shots of his sonogram

Using the pacifier to calm himself down - she needed to take one more shot

Sunday

Sunday, Bingo, Jen and I went to the park for drum circle.  We met up with Kelly there.  He had his late afternoon snack and watched all the people go by.

The kid does have some rhythm.

Jenn and I walked down to the Greek Spot (closed some devastation in my head) and ended up eating at Sala Thai.

My food was too spicy for Bingo.  He was very fussy this morning.  It could also be from the brocolli I ate too.

Bedtime went well and so did his sleep.  New issue is he only eats on one boob for 8 minutes so he wakes up an hour later for more boob.  I have a remedy to try.

Photos below :)

I Love Uncle Andrew and Aunt Alysha, but not as much as my Mommy

Friday evenings I usually look forward to some nice supper, a bath, and a manicure before I put on my footed baby pajamas and call it a day.  Well apparently, once you pass the six week mark, your mother has this crazy notion that you are mature enough to eat from a bottle. A bottle! My "mother" had the audacity to use some automatic milk retrieval machine that takes my dinner, and puts it in a bottle.  We all know milk is supposed to go in my belly, not a bottle.  So Aunt Alysha and Uncle Andrew come over, and mother disappears to the bedroom.  They try to give me this "bottle."  Let's get this straight world, I AM A BOOB MAN!  Uncle Andrew and Aunt Alysha tried everything, god bless them.  Finally they gave up and gave me what I really wanted, bath time, aka naked time.  Though I don't smile or giggle, I do enjoy my baths.  Things smell good and Uncle Andrew makes my rubber ducks have funny voices.  The best part is when I get out and get lotioned and my hair done.  I also get kisses and cuddles any snuggles.  I love snuggles.  The fools tried to feed me again with that bottle thing with the fake nipples.  They duped me into thinking they were my mama by taking one of her old smelly shirts and putting it near my "nose."  Well, I don't actually know what my nose is, but I overheard them say something about that.  I ate this "bottle milk."  I was not happy about this.  It seemed to calm Uncle Andrew and Aunt Alysha down though, and at that point, I just wanted to shut them up.   Mommy finally gave me the boob.  This better not become a routine thing.  They were sweet to try though.

Uncle Andrew loves me so much.  I think I love him too.

Using the Boba Wrap Finally

One hand on the camera and the other on the side of the frame.  I'm holding the baby without hands.

The humidifier is blocking the mirror for me to do a whole body shot.  We shall now go for a walk.

Last four sneezes yielded no need for a nose wipe!!!

And baby is happily talking to himself in his crib.

First pump for storage

It went well.  15 minutes made 2 oz.  I only pumped off one breast.  Next time I will do both.

Must clean out freezer better today.

Baby sleeping while I pumped a future meal for him.

A Day of Fluids

Poor little guy is congested.  I've been putting vapor rub on the souls of his feet before putting on his socks.  That is what the doctor recommended for now.

I've also been doing the blue nose ball sucky thing and I did the nose frida.  He's happier right after the vapor rub and the suction so it is working.

He also had his first blow out diaper. It happened at home so not too hard to clean him up.

J also tried to give him a bottle this morning.  He did take some but he would lose interest so not an easy task.  He was also congested so that didn't make it easy.  We will try again tomorrow.

After lunch today we ran errands and did a target run.  I found his Halloween costume.  I wanted that one first but Amazon didn't have his size.

The big reveal will happen on Oct 3 when we go to a costume party.

Her is a shot of him sleeping after our Target run.

And in happy mommy news - I got a raise and a promotion.

I washed my children

Bingo is clean and ready for bed as I write this.

We had his first bath w no tears.  He peed quite nicely into the bigger tub and looked bored through most of it.

We had a nice giggle during lotion time.

And Bingo is out of his new born pajamas.  They used to be big but now they look so tiny.

I think Bingo is over 10lbs.

I'm not sure if I will make it to breast feeding class but if I do I think we might walk.  But it might be too soon after surgery.

We were trapped because the building elevator broke on Friday.  Saturday while I was out J was trapped in the elevator for 20 minutes.  So when I came home we took the stairs.  She took Kayed in his carrier and I hobbled up slowly w the diaper bag.

We stayed home for the rest of the day but it was rainy so no biggie.  But the elevator wasn't fixed until after 3 today so trapped again we were.

I'm still trying to figure out what to dress Bingo as for Halloween.  Suggestions?  I hope to buy it from Amazon.com and it needs to be for newborns or 0-3 months.

Starting the day

We are out in the world

All clean from his bath

The first leap

Bingo is growing and changing and has hit his first wonder week (see thewonderweeks.com for definition).  He is definitely more alert and awake more but as he shifts he is hella cranky.  He wants mommy more than anything which made it hard to do anything today.  He would sleep but only when I held him.  He also wanted to nurse A LOT again this made it hard to do anything (like eat, drink, use the bathroom - my normal maternity leave agenda).

So most of our day looked like this

If he nursed it looked like this

He fed this morning for 2 hours straight on the couch. I slept through most of it.  When it was over I was dizzy.

Thanks to Aunt J who came to hold Bingo while I hydrated and ate something.

He also got a bath today in his bathtub.  Sadly not by Aunt Alysha and Uncle Andrew.

Kayed post bath!!

And some more photos for fun

The Day So Far

Rather boring morning of eating and changing.  He ate for 45 min straight but one hour into being out he wanted more.

While my cleaning lady cleaned we went to visit Kayed's daycare.  It was nap time and all the babes were sleeping.

Maria really loves baby.  Right now she only has one who is graduating out of the baby category.

She took Bingo out of his carrier and he instantly took to her.  She noticed he was rooting and told me to feed him which I did.

Maria doesn't seem to understand the whole SMC thing.  But who cares about that?

She reminded me of things that I'll need to bring when he starts on November 3rd:
Diapers
Wipes
Extra Clothes (4 outfits)
Milk and bottles (more than he normally eats)

She will give me a daily report of his naps, diapers and feeds.

The woman really loves kids so it's a good feeling sending him there.

Ironically another day care called me w a spot for Bingo that is much closer to my house but $70 more a week.  This woman has been waiting for me since February so no dice for the other place.

Busy day

First we had a doctors appointment.  And all is well (dare I say perfect) w Bingo's health.  He is gaining weight coming in at 9 lb 4.5 oz.  He is also getting falling and his head is getting bigger.

He also got his first vaccine (Hep B).  I nursed him while he got it.  He cried for 30 seconds.  I nearly did.

After that we went to breast feeding class.  He is still nursing like a champ.

Kiah visited in the afternoon.

A nice boring day

Mostly feeding and sleeping

Above is the sleeping

But then we decided to go out- walk J to the gym, go to trader joes and then home.  On the way to trader joe a loud motorcycle went by and woke him up.  There was much screaming until I paid at TJs and then he cried or fed until bed time.

This is the screaming and fussing

But he does like spending time in his gym.  He did this a few times today.

Relaxing Sunday

Bingo slept for 3 1/2 hours

This is him in a long nap.

And then he had dinner
This is him after dinner.

He also played in the baby gym for 10 minutes.

Busy Day for Bingo to Celebrate His First Month of Life on the Outside

Aunt Alysha, Uncle Andrew and I accompanied Bingo to the first of many brunches.  We went to sticky fingers.  Bingo maintained his veganism by having breast milk after mommy ate.

(He is thinking "they are seriously going to take me out in this heat.)

After we got home from brunch where he ate a proper meal Aunt Alysha and Uncle Andrew gave him a bath.  And yes he peed in the bath.

This is the fancy outfit they dressed me in.

And Bingo legally became Kayed Asa Francis Akbar as he got his Social Security Card came in the mail.

He also got a little hair trim so I could save some of his womb hair.

He pees and then he pees some more

Aunt Alysha put up the alphabet today in Kayed's bedroom.

It is quite awesome, no?

While doing this she took great care of Kayed who had an upset tummy today.  The cause is the breast milk (clearly my diet did not agree with him).  But the only thing that makes him not fuss is breast milk.

At about 2, Alysha changed his diaper and in the process he peed on everything.  We put a little toilet paper on his penis to prevent getting sprayed but omg did that little toilet paper get soaked.  He wet the changing table sheet, the wall, his hair, etc.  So Kayed got another bath before his 2 pm feed.

He then slept until 6 after a visit from Dr Bon.

I changed Bingo on the same sheet he wet earlier (god loves a good stackable and my ability to wash everything so quickly - granted he did sleep for 4 hours).  Again a little toilet paper on the penis.  I was just about to close up the new diaper when he peed.  And he soaked the sheet and himself.

I wrapped him up in a clean baby towel and that also got soaked.  And this time like the last time he reeked of urine.  So another bath before he fed.  And he screamed the whole time.

But after that feed he's been very calm.  He got in his jammies w no fuss, had story time and went to sleep in his bassinet.

Post bath

Happy time in PJs

Fast asleep after the second feeding
